This production presents both a horrifying and comic story by Irish playwright McDonagh about domestic tyranny and violence. The plot centers around an old woman, Meg, who lives in a small town in Ireland, where she has imprisoned herself and is now doing everything she can to imprison her daughter Maureen. The creators of the play are primarily interested in the theme of an isolated person who wants a certain life but is unable to achieve it. The non-domestic nature of this work turned Beauty Queen into a real phantasmagoria and theatrical burlesque.
